In the beginning, the story of GENESIS 1

Here is the story of GENESIS 1,the beginning.
At the very beginning, before anything existed, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was shapeless and empty, covered by darkness, with the Spirit of God moving over the waters. Then, God said, “Let there be light,” and light appeared. He separated the light from the darkness, calling the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.” This marked the first day.

On the second day, God made a firm space to divide the waters below from the waters above, and He called this space “Heaven.” Then on the third day, God gathered the waters so dry land appeared, naming the land “Earth” and the waters “Seas.” He made the earth sprout grass, plants, and trees, each producing seeds and fruit in their own kind. God saw this was good.

Next, on the fourth day, God created lights in the sky—the sun to rule the day, the moon to rule the night, and stars to shine and mark seasons, days, and years. On the fifth day, God filled the waters with life—whales and all kinds of creatures—and the skies with birds. He blessed them to multiply and fill the earth.

On the sixth day, God brought animals onto the land: livestock, wild beasts, and creeping creatures. Then He said, “Let us make humans in our image, to rule over all the earth and its creatures.” So God created man and woman in His own image. He blessed them and told them to be fruitful, multiply, and take care of the earth. He gave them plants to eat and provided food for all other living things.

At the end of this great work of creation, God saw everything He had made, and it was very good. Evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day of creation—a world full of life and purpose.
